Yeah, I know.............weirdest title ever!

I took this photo yesterday, but I'd been waiting to take it for about six weeks. The building sits on a busy main road on the approach to Southsea. There are very few places to park and so I kept driving past, thinking I'd could always get the shot next time I was in the area. Yesterday I spotted a parking space. I parked up and walked back a 100 yards or so and to my dismay noticed that the owner had built a door in the wall and ruined the artwork. How inconsiderate! Nevertheless I decided to take the photo anyway. Note to self: Never wait too long to get the shot, it may not be there when you go back :-)))

The wording on this wall used to read "Phone your Mum (she worries)"

Oh well......................

Note: The original artist is "My Dog Sighs". Another example of his (or her) work can be found here: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/45531378/in/album/385235

I was going to say, we will never know, but then saw that you had remembered the wording. Well done Keith. Yes mums always worry.....and dads! What a lovely message and I'm am pleased you eventually got the picture, even with the new door ;-)) Take care.

I totally agree, Keith
We get to know the story of the wonderful graffiti and its message
However, the door gives a certain charm to the set and we can imagine another story ...
Splendid, Keith
Thanks also for the note

A great piece of graffiti. What a pity it got chopped. The door isn't even that attractive. Although I suppose you could enjoy trying to complete the missing part of the message. But I'm glad you could fill us in. I've often done that drive past till another time. Things you see and there's nowhere to park.

I will disagree with you, Keith. The incomplete graffito could be more interesting than the full one - perhaps!

Despite its amputation, it makes a striking picture!
I agree with your thought....once seen, photograph immediately. Things can change in a blink.

Jean Paul

Thank you all so much. I'm pleased that you like this photo, even if some of the artwork is missing! A lesson learned :-))

Such a shame that they'd put that door into place Keith before you were able to capture the entire piece for posterity, but still a nice shot. As for a lesson learned, I think we've all made that mistake at some point, I know I have ... time waits for no man (or woman) - lol!

Is the property market so expensive in your neck of the woods that folks have to grab every available opportunity? The heart would have been perfect for today, and the message is very apt. :-))

He's quite a popular street artist in the Portsmouth/Southsea area.......and his work is instantly recognisable.

Thanks for the link........such an uplifting article. There are so many lovely people out there who don't get nearly enough publicity..!!
