The French........

The French........
Taken in Albert Road, Southsea, Hampshire. This used to be a small shopping arcade but has been closed for years now. The hoarding over the frontage is now covered in notices, stickers and street art which I thought made an interesting photo.

trester88, Diana Australis, Jean-luc Drouin, Jean Paul Capdeville and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

Always worth recording the changes in my opinion (I often wish I could go back and take some photos I missed and would value now)

A colourful and interesting collection on the front of the old Bakers shop Keith, No call for shop space in this part of Southsea I assume,
But it's a terrific capture and I do like the Zoo poster and can only wonder who Big Al was.

Thanks Roger.........pleased you like it. This little arcade has been boarded up for at least 5 years (and probably more). The frontage has been decorated many times my various street artists over the years. I pop back now and then when I'm in the area just to see what's changed.

Can't help with Big Al I'm afraid :-))

Some good panels of art there Keith. The French "what" I wonder!
A good and well captured shot. I agree with Colin. I wish I had taken more street shots 20, 30 or 40 years ago!

Thanks Rosa. This little arcade has been boarded up for at least 5 years (and probably more) and having wracked what's left of my brain, I can't remember what it used to be called :-(

It took a pandemic to get me out taking more shot's like this :-))

As I commented on another of our continental contributions yesterday, the world is getting full of these mini art galleries on buildings and surfaces that should really have a much better purpose. A great shame, I think, that these old shops should now only be fit for such things as this. Colourful and interesting, maybe - good -no way! ~ On the other hand, your capture of the moment, as usual is spot on. Well done Keith.

Keep happy. Herb

I know what you mean Herb...........not everyone like to see this sort of thing. Personally I think that (when done well), it can brighten up otherwise dark, dank and boring areas, lift the spirits and discourage other vandalism............and, of course they're very photogenic.

Glad you like the shot..........and thanks, as always.

There is obviously a word missing, but I really can't remember what the little arcade of shops used to be called............it has been closed and boarded up for quite a few years now. Nearly all the shops in this road are very old and most of them need renovation, but it is a deprived area and the council just don't have the money to get it done.

I think the posters and artwork brighten it up a little. Thanks for stopping by Jean Paul.
