Into the Grey

Into the Grey
Taken at Hayling Island, Hampshire. This surfer (on some sort of electrically controlled surfboard) was the only person I saw out on the water. There are some vessels just visible along the horizon, but generally visibility was not good. It didn't take much effort to make this this black and white :-)))

I've never seen one like that before Keith! He must be very keen to attempt it in December! It makes a very interesting picture though...and in almost natural b&w :-)

Thanks Rosa.........I've never seen one of these before either...........it's an e-foil apparently and I've included a link a bit further down if you want to have a look.

That's a most strange thing Keith as it looks like the main weight bearing part is underwater. Either that or you took this exactly as he skipped over water. In any case, an excellent shot where the mono suits fine.

Thanks for the link Keith. I would not have believed it possible for such a small underwater hydrofoil like arm to lift the weight of a person. I see their is a real technique to it, as I have watched a few video's now. I will keep my eye open for them when next I am near surfing seas.

amendment - I have just seen an advert for one and now see some have tiny electric propellers on there -but not all. . As you say below, looks like it could be an expensive toy but great fun.

Very interesting Keith, it looks like the surfer is above the water, is that a trick of the light?

Not a trick of the light Ed............it's an e-foil apparently and I've included a link underneath my comment a bit further down if you want to have a look.

Thank you all for your comments (and a couple of questions). I believe these boards are called e-Foils - check out the link: foilsurfing.co.uk/tag/efoil

This is the first one I've seen. It looks like an expensive hobby to me!
