Taken in my garden. Thanks to neira-Dan and Amelia Heath for confirming the ID, which I wasn't sure about.

What a pose, it looks like a model or an ornament that has been placed perefectly on the leaf. A lovely photo

je pense que c'est le Tircis , Pararge aegeria, surnommé parfois Argus des bois

A brief rest in the sun to have a warm, this is an excellent close up with superb details and captured in wonderful light, sorry unable to help with the ID Keith but I suspect you are correct.

I agree with you and Dan. It's a really nice example of a speckled wood butterfly., though it's more easily identifiable if the wings are open.

Beautifully captured and on a background that shows it off to perfection. I like all the detail on the wings and the texture.

Lovely detail as always Keith. The butterfly stands out well against the smooth background. I looked it up, as I'm never quick enough to get this particular one. It says, 'Understated yet headstrong, the speckled wood spends its time basking in sun-dappled woodland and fiercely patrolling its patch'....sounds like the bad boy of butterflies ;-))

Good catch Keith, I don't think I would know one of these just by the underside of the wings to go by. Seems like last couple of days is producing an explosion of Butterflies.

Oh my, look at that beauty! How wonderful that you got such perfect timing! And it's also nice that you had help with identification--I've drained hours of my life trying to figure out butterfly and moth species! :D

TY for your visit, Steve continues to mend and we are having a great time! :) All my best!
