Jazz Age Photography
Alfred Cheney Johnston collection of Ziegfeld Girls.

I'm still dealing with a reluctant internet and my comments will be hampered until I get it figured out.

Really nice use of sepia to highlight the book. You have a fine collection of photography books.

Thanks Esther! It's actually a little selective color ... sepia was the color of the book.

This is beautiful Norm. Your featured book reminds me of the Phryne Fisher books too which are so good. Hope your internet gets better soon.

Thanks Karen! I suspect it's going to take a new provider to solve the problem, but I've got a couple of things to try yet.

Thanks Wendi! Cameras and Courage by Margaret Bourke-White ... I haven't read this one yet. Whenever I run across a photographer ... I'll buy everything I can find on them.

Yes ... but a minor frustration compared to the roof leak and the refrigerator going on the fritz ... Monday was not a good day! I'm going to plug in a new modem when I get home and if that doesn't do the trick ... I may switch providers.

Really nice shot Norm and the use of selective colouring gives a 3-dimensional feel to the finished image! :)

nice big pile of books there and that selective sepia really pulls that one book out of the picture

Thanks Amaz! :-) There was a "Twilight Zone" episode where a fellow had piles of books everywhere ... and I thought about doing that, but just didn't have the time to set it all up.

Thanks Chris! Alfred Cheney Johnston photographed those girls during the peak of the Art Deco period. I was given my first book in first grade ... and the collection has been growing ever since then. :-)

The shot really looks nice, Norm! Sometimes when we do things at the last moment, we don't have time to overthink them and they come out beautiful like you've done. Spot on with the concept and execution!
