Waiting for the Tide

Waiting for the Tide
It's documentation in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is proof that the port at Porlock Weir has been in existance for over a thousand years and as one of the few places small ships can land along the rugged Exmoor coast it has had a varied history.
The huge tidal range in the Bristol Channel means everything is left high and dry at low water while the houses in the image which are on the shingle bank between sea and harbour regularly have sand bags at the ready.

Many thanks Keith, Sandbags always appear to be on standby and from what I am able to understand they were five in number all thatched originally but have been altered to three with the remaining thatched one now a holiday let.

They may need more than sandbags given the expected rise of the sea level. :-(
