His Standard Oil paintings have definitely influenced me, Steve, and although the perspective here isn't as striking it's still a notable feature. ANd here's one of his gas station photos that may have been in the back of my mind:

Thanks, Ulrich. I might also have mentioned Joe Steinmetz. He was taking pictures of Florida similar to Adams's at the same time Adams was in Colorado. Steinmetz is chiefly remembered today, I think, for his photos in LIFE magazine of the Ringling Brothers-Barnum & Bailey circus at its winter base in Sarasota, where he lived.
