The shadow patters are intriguing. And the occupation of the lady is all too prevalent these days - have been guilty of it myself rarely.

Thanks, Bob. Toronto has warning strips at intersections now so these poor souls don't wander out into the traffic.

Great juxtaposition of the bike, the woman and the tree. I seem to have escaped the mobile phone addiction so far although I'm pretty addicted to my iPad so I've nothing to be proud of.

Thanks, Jean. It just occurred to me that the mobile is an example of reinforcement scheduling. You start texting or posting to social media sites and you get a lot of social reinforcement. Over time the reinforcement diminishes but the decline is gradual, and you start responding even more (as happens when reinforcement is made less frequent). Eventually the reinforcement becomes very infrequent, but you're responding at a higher rate than you were when you started. Just like training a pigeon, and I wouldn't be surprised if social media sites do that deliberately. They maintain your interest by providing links to things you've shown an interest in, for example, so that you won't all of a sudden run out of reinforcement.

Interesting theory ... but since I am trying to get *less* distracted by social media (which includes Ipernity) I will not put it to the test.
But I'm fairly sure that it's your intriguing photos (and those of other fine photographers) and not the social reinforcement that keeps me coming back here.

That is a great thing about image-sharing sites, which were the first real social media sites, too. You learn a lot about photographs, too, both your own and other people's.

Nicely composed John. I like the dappled shadows and the touch of green from the leaves.

Thanks, Keith. I thought it had a strong rustic air myself.
