I missed your comment way back when, Diane. I can only agree with your observations. Fleur-Ange Lamothe on Flickr thought there was a good chance this family is French(-Canadian). They do display the modest elegance that was shown by many French people back at the time this photo was taken.

A very nice moment captured. I'm guessing this was taken in the '50s from the young woman's dress and hairstyle.

Sorry about the belated reply, Rick. I think you're right about it being taken in the 50s, and about the girl's hairstyle being a key. I though it might be from the early 60s, but beehives were the rage then.
