Friday 1 June 2018 (0848) – Go North East 6318 (NK67 GMV), a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017, seen crossing the Tyne Bridge into Newcastle from Gateshead when working the ‘Angel’ service 21 from Durham. The bridge was opened by King George V and Queen Mary in October 1928 and has become a defining symbol of Tyneside.

Saturday 2 June 2018 (0930) – Go North East 6326 (NK67 GNP), a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017, seen in St. Nicholas’ Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne when working ‘Angel’ service 21 to Chester-le-Street. The tower of the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas stands beyond the arch of the bridge which carries northbound trains out of Newcastle Central railway station.

Saturday 2 June 2018 (0930) – Go North East 6326 (NK67 GNP), a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017, seen about to cross the High Level Bridge linking Newcastle-upon-Tyne with Gateshead when working ‘Angel’ service 21 to Chester-le-Street. The bridge was opened by Queen Victoria in 1849 and carries railway tracks on the upper level which can be seen above right emerging from Newcastle Central Station. The lower level features pedestrian paths either side of a roadway now restricted to use by local buses and taxis travelling southbound only. When constructed the roadway was adequate for two way carriage and cart traffic. In the background is the Tyne Bridge, the road bridge opened by King George V and Queen Mary in October 1928.

Friday 1 June 2018 (1747) – Go North East 6328 (NK67 GNV), a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017, seen waiting to turn from Blackett Street to Percy Street in Newcastle-upon-Tyne as it headed to Eldon Square bus station. It works the ‘Angel’ service 21 to Durham and is allocated to Chester-le-Street garage. The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which is passed on the journey.

It works the ‘Angel’ service 21 to Durham and is allocated to Chester-le-Street garage. The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which is passed on the journey.

It is a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017 which works the ‘Angel’ service 21 between Durham and Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is allocated to Chester-le-Street garage. The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which is passed on the journey.

Thursday 31 May 2018 (1935) – A Go North East Wrightbus Streetdeck in the green livery for the ‘Angel’ service 21 seen crossing the Tyne Bridge heading into Newcastle from Gateshead. The bridge was opened by King George V and Queen Mary in October 1928 and has become a defining symbol of Tyneside. In the background can be seen two more recent constructions, the Millenium pedestrian and cycle bridge and the Sage culture and concert venue. Between them is the former Baltic Flour Mill opened in 1950 by Joseph Rank Limited which is now the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.

Friday 1 June 2018 (1612) – Go North East 6320 (NK67 GMY), a Wrightbus Streetdeck new in December 2017, seen just after leaving the Metro Interchange in Gateshead. It works the ‘Angel’ service 21 between Durham and Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is allocated to Chester-le-Street garage. The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which is passed on the journey. The Angel of the North celebrates 20 years of age in 2018 marked by orange vinyls.

At first the journey takes 11 minutes to reach the Metro Centre continuing with a 12 minute circuit around the Estate before returning to the Interchange. With a couple of recovery time breaks before and after the circular the overall round trip takes 45 minutes. The service runs every 20 minutes Sunday to Friday increased to every 15 minutes on Saturdays.

It is a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL new in August 2012 allocated to Washington garage. The bridge was opened by Queen Victoria in 1849 and carries railway tracks on the upper level which can be seen above right emerging from Newcastle Central Station. The lower level features pedestrian paths either side of a roadway now restricted to use by local buses and taxis travelling southbound only. Saturday 2 June 2018 (1107) – Go North East 6054 (NK62 EKD), a Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL new in September 2012, seen turning from Pilgrim Street to New Bridge Street West in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Allocated to Washington garage it was working the ‘Red Arrows’ branded service X1 to Easington Lane. The stone column in the background is a monument to Charles, Earl Grey, K.C., erected in 1838.
