Große Rote Wegschnecke - Arion rufus - Large red slug

Im Sommer diesen Jahres fand ich diese Große Rote Wegschnecke (Arion rufus). Sie gehört wegen des Fehlens eines Kalkgehäuses zu den Nacktschnecken und kam früher auch im Kulturland vor. Die Konkurrenz durch die Spanische Wegschnecke hat aber diese Wegschnecke vor allem in die Wälder verdrängt. Sie frisst alle möglichen Pflanzen und Pilze, aber auch Aas und Tierkot.
Im Bild eine Große Rote Wegschnecke, die gerade Kot mit Kirschkernen eines unbekannten Tieres frisst. Die Mundöffnung mit den bei Schnecken typischen Fühlern findet sich rechts. Durch das Atemloch (siehe Notiz) wird Luft in die darunter liegende Atemhöhle ("Lunge") gesaugt und verbrauchte Luft wieder abgegeben. Das Bild entstand auf einem Weg in einem Mischwald, in dem sich viele Wildkirschenbäume befinden.

This summer I found this large red slug (Arion rufus). Due to the lack of a calcareous shell, it belongs to the group of nudibranchs and used to be found in cultivated areas. However, competition from the Spanish slug has pushed this slug mainly into the forests. It eats all kinds of plants and fungi, but also carrion and animal excrement.
In the picture, a Great Red Slug is eating the faeces with cherry pits of an unknown animal . The mouth opening with the typical feelers of snails can be found on the right. Air is aspirated through the respiratory pore (see note) into the breathing cavity ("lung") below and used air is released again. The picture was taken on a path in a mixed forest with many wild cherry trees.
