Einer unserer Schönsten - One of our most beautiful - mit PiP

Das Foto zeigt einen gerade geschlüpften Tagfalter, nämlich den Admiral (Vanessa atalanta), der im Moment der Aufnahme noch dabei war, seine Flügel gänzlich zu entfalten. Er sitzt auf seiner Futterpflanze, der Brennnessel, auf die er als Raupe zwingend angewiesen ist und auf der er sich auch verpuppt hatte. Die Hand-Aufnahme entstand auf einem schattigen Waldweg, deshalb die hohe ISO-Zahl. Einen Admiral mit ausgebreiteten Flügeln zeigt das PiP.
Eine ganze Reihe von Tagfaltern benötigt als Futterpflanze für die Raupe die Brennnessel. Neben dem Admiral sind dies: Kleiner Fuchs, Tagpfauenauge, Landkärtchen und der C-Falter. Jeder kann zum Schutz der genannten Falterarten beitragen, wenn er an geeigneter Stelle etwas von diesem "Unkraut" stehen lässt.

The photo shows a newly hatched butterfly, namely the Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta), which was just about to unfold its wings completely at the moment the photo was taken.. It is sitting on its food plant, the stinging nettle, on which it is absolutely dependent as a caterpillar and on which it had also pupated. The hand-held photo was taken on a shady forest path, hence the high ISO number. The PiP shows an admiral with spread wings.
A whole series of butterflies need the nettle as a food plant for the caterpillar. Besides the Red Admiral, these are: small tortoiseshell, European peacock, map butterfly and the comma butterfly. Everyone can contribute to the protection of the above-mentioned butterfly species by leaving some of this "weed" in a suitable place.
