Even rainy weather did not stop me from taking a little walk in the woods this morning. I unexpectedly found a still blooming Turk's cap lily (Lilium martagon). On closer inspection, I saw a small crab spider sitting under a petal as a ambush predator (see note) and using spider threads to build a small hunting ground. With its orange-red color it is excellently camouflaged and difficult to spot for possible prey. It is amazing that crab spiders can adapt their body colour to the surrounding colour to a certain extent. What a wonderful micro world!
The picture was taken in a mixed oak forest. As it was very dusky there, I used a flash to avoid a high ISO number.

Crab spiders are masters of camouflage.
It's worthwhile to take a close look always on or even under flowers.
Wünsche Dir ein schönes und erlebnisreiches Wochenende !
