Weiße Kreuze am Ufer der Spree - “Weisse Kreuze” memorial

Im Regierungsviertel befindet sich am Ufer der Spree am Friedrich-Ebert-Platz neben dem Reichstagsgebäude in Berlin der Gedenkort Weiße Kreuze. Er soll an alle Menschen erinnern, die nach der Abriegelung der Grenze bei dem Versuch, aus der DDR nach West-Berlin zu fliehen, ums Leben gekommen sind. You are right! I was so happy, when the young mother with her children aproached and watched for a while the ships on the river Spree. The persons in the foreground are a real eyecatcher.
