Thank you so much, Rosa! The leaves can carry the weight of a small child. The gardeners grow the tropical waterlilies out of seed every year, the pond is heated, the water comes from the zoo's own mineral springs (Stuttgart has the 2nd most copious mineral water springs after Budapest).

A fantastic photo Gudrun...........the light and colours are lovely especially in the foreground where the edges of the leaves are translucent. The Heron is beautiful and elegant and you've captured it in wonderful detail with perfect focus on the eye.

Thanks a lot, Keith! I used sports mode, much easier than fiddling around manually;-) But thankfully the lazy heron hardly moved...

Nothing wrong with using the varies "modes" available Gudrun.............not much point in getting a camera that has them, if you don't use them occasionally :-)

As long the camera also has manual settings;-) Of all the "modes" I usually only use sports whch is very convenient for moving subjects.
