At the filling station in Bajo Caracoles. There was a strike on and no petrol to be had between there and Calafate;-) Edited for an analogue look.

Herzlichen Dank, Ulrich! Dort hat man noch das ursprüngliche Patagonien gespürt (Chatwin war auch da...). Inzwischen ist die Hauptstrasse schon geteert, also gibt es keine Staubfahnen mehr....

Thank you, Jaap! This time it was the drivers of the petrol lorries;-) That people at Lago Posadas gave us some from their canisters, they had to use a soup ladle to fill it in;-)

Herzlichen Dank, Volker! Das war mit einem Kleinbus, organisiert, mit etlichen Grenzübertirtten zwischen Chile und Argentinien. Mehr Fotos sind im Patagonien-Album, ab und zu lade ich immer mal wieder welche hoch.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! It's a very fascinating place with a feeling of the "old" Patagonia. The hotel/cafe/shop was also interesting- like a Norwegian Landhandel in the back of beyond.

No, the hotel/shop was at Bajo Caracoles. But on my first Patagonia trip in 2003 we also stopped at La Leona- a great place! Our guide disappeared into the kitchen and got some roast choique (nandu);-)

Wir haben eine Kuh gesehen, die ein Bein eingeklemmt hatte und sich nicht mehr befreien konnte, und haben an der nächsten Estancia Bescheid gegeben. Die Zartbesaiteten fielen fast um, als der seine Knarre nahm und sich aufs Pferd schwang;-)

Eigentlich geht mir's auch so, poly, aber der Freitags-Zaun ist auf dem anderen Foto präsenter;-( Beim PiP habe ich einen Bleach-Bypassfilter drübergelegt, beim Hauptbild so einen Sixties-Analogfilter.

Thanks a lot, Diane! I was also fascinated by it! In the shop (café-bar-hotel) they had loads of vicious looking knives and a good choice of wines apart from the essentials like usual loo paper, matches, batteries and tinned foods;-)

Besten Dank, Berny! Nein, wir haben den Sprit in Lago Posadas aus deren eiserner Reserve bekommen. Die war so eisern, dass der Deckel eingerostet war und nur mit Mühen aufging und dann wurde mit der Schöpfkelle umgefüllt;-)
