Cementerio de Humahuaca (3xPiP)

Cementerio de Humahuaca (3xPiP)
Cemeteries don't have to look sombre as this one shows.
Humahuaca is a small colonial town founded in the late 16th century. It lies at 2939m in the far North of Argentina, in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, an old Inca route which has been inscripted as UNESCO world Heritage in 2003.

Thank you, Graham! Yes, it's very arid there, a semi- desert with cacti. Only along the river and in the rainy season it's green.

Gudrun, I love love love these photos. What a marvelous cemetery! The more "modern" we get, the more boring our cemeteries become. Why not be colorful and creative with death - it can't be cured anyway!

Thank you so much, Diane! Latin American cemeteries definitely look more positive than ours, much nicer to remember people in colourful surroundings! Our modern cemeteries also are plain boring, even the flowers look the same everywhere- begonias and low maintenance evergreens....
