Lemon slice in a glass of water (PiP)

Lemon slice in a glass of water (PiP)
The Sunday Challenge (TSC): 'back to basics'
Use a non-zoom lens, ISO100, and lets see something SOOC, no crop, no post pro, just like in the old days of film.

This is a 20,1 MB RAW file (digital negative) shot with my 100mm prime. Settings were fully manual except white balance (AWB). I used a tripod and focussed manually with the help of live view. The file is completely untouched, I just transferred it from camera to hard drive with EOS Utitlty.

Inset/below is the JPG (shot in tandem with the RAW), picture style "automatic", the differences to RAW show what Canon does in camera.

Thanks a lot, Marj! This was made from recycled glass, the shape and the imperfections of the material helped the distortions:-)

Herzlichen Dank, Leo! Volle Zustimmung in punkto "unbearbeitet"!

lovely semi abstract, the yellow of the lemon looks great against the black, I prefer the muted colour and tone of the RAW to the processed JPEG

Gudrun club has replied to Amazingstoker
Thank you, stoker! I usually don't shoot jpg at all, just went RAW/Large jpg for this challenge (the jpg is also "out of the box")
Amazingstoker has replied to Gudrun club
I do JPEG + RAW and use the JPEG if the light is easy, and the RAW when I need to push the lowlights or contrast a lot
6 years ago.
Gudrun club has replied to Amazingstoker
I found myself hardly using the jpgs at all, because I took so many photos in low light conditions, so I dropped them.

Works extremely well for me Gudrun. Slightly confused though with the various versions you've uploaded. If I'm following you correctly the main image is the RAW file and the colour one in the notes is the automatic JPEG, but what is the one below your text?
Gudrun club has replied to autofantasia club
Thanks a lot, Paul! The inset and the one below are identical, I just put it there for people who don't like to/ cannot look at notes. As far as I know notes cannot be accessed from mobile devices.

An interesting choice to display the raw photo. The jpeg is usually more saturated, as I perceive in this photo. I am noticing on a lot of the work this week that people are not adjusting their white balance in camera. Did you try that to try to get more saturation in that lemon?
Gudrun club has replied to Puchinpappy club
Thank you, pappy! You got me there with the white balance! I should have tried but never did, because I usually do this in Lightroom ( I don't have a grey card). Actually my camera has not only the usual WB presets but also allows adjustment in Kelvin.
I chose to show RAW here because of the SOOC-task. After all, if no post processing is wanted, I also wanted to leave out the in-camera-processing Canon has chosen to give the jpg;-)

RAW!!!? =O

I didn't quite notice that year ago. I wonder what editing Ipernity does on server side to get RAW images shown on web pages. Those that are resized and published on pages are JPEG.
5 years ago. Edited 5 years ago.
Gudrun club has replied to Sami Serola (inactiv… club
Yes, it's possible to upload RAW files:-) You are right of course, Ipernity must be doing something to the file during upload to display it as jpg, It also doesn't show the full size (over 20 MB) file because of my settings. But there's still a bit of difference to the out-of.the-box-jpg which is more saturated and contrasty.
