Azure Window

Azure Window
Azure Window is a rock arch on the coast of Gozo. After a major rockfall in 2012 it is expected that the window will cave in within the next few years (the second inset shows the window in 2011, seen from the other side, when people were still allowed to walk over).
Addendum: The window finally caved in in a storm on 08.03.2017.
The whole area consists of coralline limestone with marine fossils and is protected as a natural monument.

Herzlichen Dank, Lutz! Mir war's dort schon fast zu heiß- anfangs nahe 30 Grad und sehr schwül, später zum Glück "nur" noch 22-25 Grad,-)

Danke, Dany! Filmindustrie ist auf Malta und Gozo ein wichtiger Devisenbringer und die hatten sicher Auflagen, die sie dann nicht eingehalten haben. Deswegen die Strafen, mit dem Geld wurden die Schäden repariert. Ich habe übrigens GoT auch noch nie gesehen;-)

Herzlichen Dank für deinen ausführlichen Besuch, Volker! Ja, da hatten wir Glück, man hat schon einige Zeit damit gerechnet, dass der Bogen irgendwann kollabiert, es sind immer mehr Stücke runtergekommen.
