Great Tit - Parus major

The beautiful Great Tit - Parus major - is widespread throughout Europe, the Middle East and central Asia and is the largest bird in the Tit family. Primarily a woodland bird, it has easily adapted to man made habitats becoming a welcome visitor in gardens and parks where they will squabble with other smaller tits at the bird table. Eating mainly insects, it does love nuts and seeds and will widen its range of foods in winter. This one was seen at Three Sisters area, Wigan.
