American Redstart - Setophaga ruticilla
The American Redstart - Setophaga ruticilla - is a medium sized warbler in the Wood Warbler family which can be found throughout North America, through middle America and the Caribbean and into northern South America. They love to flit about in the trees, showing off their patches of colour by holding their wings and tail partly spread, and trying to catch insects in mid air. This one, being a female, is less colourful than the male which is mostly glossy black with bright orange flashes on the wings, tail, and sides. This one was seen in Guardalavaca, Cuba.
