House Sparrow - Passer domesticus
This is the male House Sparrow - Passer domesticus - which is a very common bird found in most parts of the world and is also the most widely distributed wild bird. Feeding mainly on grain and weed seeds they will also take insects and many other foods put out for them or available in the wild. They have many predators including cats, hawks and most other predatory birds and mammals. This one was a visitor to our garden during rainfall.
