...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKDT
WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Plan on difficult travel
conditions. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches in
valleys, with 4 to 7 inches in hills above 1000 feet.
* WHERE...Middle Tanana Valley, with the heaviest snow
accumulations in the hills above 1000 feet.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM Wednesday. The heaviest snow will occur
through late tonight, and snow will taper off Wednesday
morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Valley locations, such as Fairbanks, will
have a storm total of 2 to 4 inches of snow through Wednesday
morning, while hills above 1000 feet will receive a storm total
of 4 to 7 inches of snow through Wednesday morning. Paved roads
in valleys locations are expected to remain mainly wet this this
afternoon and early evening as the snow melts when it hits the
warmer pavement, however snow is expected to accumulate on paved
roads in valleys tonight as temperatures fall. Roads in the
hills above 1000 feet will continue to accumulate snow this
afternoon and are expected to continue to accumulate snow through
Wednesday morning.
