The Sunday Challenge: Texture
Challenge for this Sunday was texture, which means any kind of surface of any material. A texture can be present anywhere, both indoors as outdoors. Artificial textures can be added with photo software, to give the photo another look.
Tree leaves are a classic example of texture. On the photo a fallen leaf of a plane tree, which is full of different textures (grains and chlorophyll) and patterns. Also some rainwater on the leaf, which makes a distinctive and subtile reflection.
To give the photo a typical Dutch or Amsterdam look in stead of a classic autumnal photo, I decided to include the tyre and wheel of a bicycle, parked in a bicyclestand. For processing I changed the highlight in the curve a subtle bit. I also cropped the photo into a square which worked better than a 4:5 or standard 3:4 format. I also turned it black and white, to accentuate the texture of the leaf. This meant I had to shed the blue rim of the bicycle.
In the notes the original and the processed colour and the selective colour version.
