The Sunday Challenge: Stones
Challenge for this Sunday was stones.
On the photo a combination of granite erratic boulders and basalt blocks. The stones are part of the cladding of the former seadike near Muiden.
In historical times the granite was imported from the Baltic region, later until the 20th century heavier basalt was used. These days concrete basalt blocks are used.
Also berries and leaves of a rowan tree which grows amidst the stones. Note the sun is already shining on some berries and the lychens but not yet on the stones as the photo is taken just after sunrise. The orange pinkish erratic boulder is a striking stone amidst the other grey and dark grey stones.
The rowan tree is featured here: www.ipernity.com/doc/299737/38038536
