Paper Memories
Created from Photographing British and Canadian Paper Currency

Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) who had the longest reign in British history will go down in history as universally loved and one of the greatest monarchs because of her enduring faith, courage, and a life that had dedicated to service, generosity and benevolence.

Because of her refusal to inject politics into her rule, she served as a bridge to bring peace, tolerance and understanding. May God continue to save the Queen as she lives in eternity attested to by the double rainbow above Buckingham Palace upon her passing.

And despite the rupture of relations under her great grandfather King George III (1738-1820) and the consequent American Revolution (1775-1784), there is no greater friendship and fraternity than that between the USA and Great Britain an indelible testament that no rift is too great to forgive and no wound too great that it cannot be healed. May God save and guide King Charles III as he begins his reign during this period of mourning and these uncertain times where the hearts of so many have grown hard and cold. Only a thaw and willingness to listen, understand and respect can bridge the great chasms between peoples and nations and bring much needed healing and peace.

And today as we here in the USA also somberly remember 9/11 as we mourn the Queen's passing, we are reminded her 9/11 message that "Grief is the price we pay for love."

Finally, it is reassuring to remember the message in Isaiah 61:2 that God "comfort[s] all who mourn" and that our "grief will be turned into joy." [John 16:20]

Perhaps it takes someone at one a bit removed (ie, not British) to focus on the essentials at a time like this. Beautifully expressed tribite, William! Thank you so much!

Beaucoup trop demeure en place ici au Québec où la classe politique doit encore prêter serment au petit roi charles et à elle avant son décès.

Prêter serment à la nation anglaise qui nous conquit et qui essaie encore de nous assimiler, c'est révoltant !!

Wonderful tribute to HMQ, William, and lovely words for HMK. It's been a very strange week here, but so it's good to hear how she was held in such high regard world wide.
Brilliant image too. Stay well!

Stay strong and let's hope everyone is respectful regardless of opinion. Soon life will be back to normal. In the meantime, I'm happy to see the large majority of the world sees Elizabeth for the good person she was, extends their condolences and wishes HMK the best as he faces many challenges -- some certainly undeserved and unfair.

Wonderful and thoughtful tribute, William, I am old enough to remember our last King but this was the only monarch many will have known.

It is very good to know that our Queen was held in such high regard, not only here but across the world. Thank you for this tribute, - it still seems a little unreal. She was the only monarch I have known. Your picture is also a reminder of the changes that have happened and those still to come, with HMK featuring on our currency and postage stamps for example.

Have a good weekend

It was obvious today as four billion people around the world watched the funeral, myself included -- to pay our respects. I believe all people of good will in the UK and around the world were heartbroken at HMQ's passing since even at 96 she seemed indestructible until the last few days.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury summed it up perfectly when he declared, "Those who serve will be loved and remembered when those who cling to power and privileges are forgotten." HMQ was perhaps the most selfless leader during her reign, touching so many lives that people can't help but say she seemed like family. It is because of this, in the case of HMQ in the words of the Archbishop of Canterbury -- "few leaders receive the outpouring of love we have seen" for the Queen.

You're correct about the changes to come. HMK must be strong as people of bad will emerge to plunder the royal family and besmirch the reputation of the UK. God Save the King. Many here in the USA wish him the best. Let HMK and the British people be strong during the challenging days to come and know no matter what -- history isn't perfect. No nation or people can claim otherwise when it comes to that of their own so it's time and more prudent to focus on working together through mutual respect and the absence of animus for a better future.

I can only agree with your tribute, William.
You tell an uplifting royal story to which your both people have subscribed, as I have seen and appreciated many times. And I sympathise with the deep sorrow that the Queen's death represents for you, in memory of her words and deeds that you recall.
A great and beautiful tribute, certainly.

A very moving tribute William I would like to thank you for your wonderful thoughts, I was 5 when Her Majesty came to the throne and have known no other Monarch. Thanks for your thoughts and wishes to us, I remember living in Kingsgate, Broadstairs amongst American Service families and what wonderful people they were. They were serving at Manston a few miles away, flying Sabre Jets.
It is said we are 2 Nations seperated only by a common language !!

Thanks William once again

William, thank you so much for your very kind tribute to our Queen. I was two when HM came to the throne, so like most, she is the only Monarch I have known. Her strong sense of duty has been a shinning example to all in these islands, and around the world.

She was a wonderful Queen, and this is a beautiful tribute William. I think Charles will be a good King. He is a good and sensitive man.

We will never forget 9/11 William. I remember where I was at that time and was in complete shock.

My best wishes to you,
Rosalyn.
