New Year's Day Vibrance

Times Square, New York, NY

Note: Created using New Year's Day items, confetti and other litter found in Times Square before sanitation crews cleaned it up after the night of celebrations. The colorful confetti was released from rooftops of the skyscrapers in and around Times Square when the ball dropped, the clock struck midnight and fire works were unleashed. This confetti initially covered the streets in and around Times Square and even blew into Central Park located approximately 20 blocks north of Times Square. The confetti looked especially vibrant in the early morning sunlight.

With the 2nd Anniversary of the cowardly attack on Charlie Hebdo, I decided to add a cartoon I created from free clipart, an 18th century Ottoman image of the Prophet Muhammad and a modified section of another pre-18th century Islamic image Ali beheading Nadir. What better way to honor their legacy than through a cartoon to illustrate that freedom of expression will never be snuffed out by the darkness of evil.

The Prophet Muhammad was kind and forgiving. He believed in tolerance and diversity. Sadly ISIS and other extremists have recreated him into something he was not. Had the Prophet Muhammad been alive today, ISIS would surely have beheaded him for daring to promote kindness.

Thank you Amelia. ISIS might deny it but considering they only stand for evil, they would've beheaded Muhammad and do so figuratively every day. As for the confetti, it was the most colorful I've ever seen it. Makes for a bright new year! :)

Sadly a Palestinian inspired by ISIS committed a despicable cowardly act of evil in the holy city of Jerusalem. I created with image using free clipart, a image of the Jerusalem skyline that I modified, and special effects from Smart Photo Editor. The colored leaves of the broken olive branch lying next to the slain dove symbolize that these latest slaughtered innocents like the others live in eternity. I also used Torah inspired quotes.
