Looking up!

Looking up!
A typical Madrid street scene if one only looked up occasionally!

When I was younger this wouldn't have bothered me at all, but now, I'd feel very claustrophobic. I'd rather not visit a city/big town anymore because of lots of high buildings and hardly any sky to see.

Most older blocks of flats in cities such as Madrid or Paris used to have a height restriction of no more than 7 storeys. Why? Because in the days before lifts, it was considered that students and young childless couples could easily manage 7 flights of stairs, young families the middle floors and the elderly and infirm should have the ground floors. So in the centres of these cities you don't often get a feeling of claustrophobia because there is plenty of sky without the skyscrapers!

Always worth looking up when out taking photos..............as you have ably demonstrated here Andy! I especially like the cloud formations and the colours of the buildings. Very nice indeed!
