My brother, David, at the Lily Festival, 1951

My brother, David, at the Lily Festival, 1951
Who cares about lilies? There's a truck!

Brookings, Oregon, was surrounded by fields of white lilies, the beautiful scent of which filled the foggy air. They were shipped around the country as Easter lilies. Those fields are gone and houses have been planted in place of lilies.

AA306 Old photo.

I understand... last place I lived before coming here was in the middle of the English bulbfields...amazing (godparents were Dutch so we used to go there too)

Oh, nice! The smell of bulb flowers isn't strong, but in masses it's divine. Like fresh air and sweet herbs. Well, except for hyacinths, of course, a whole field of which would be too much for me. How nice you also got to visit Holland! Thanks again, Pam.
