Alice Marie (Pearson) Putnam, 1960

Alice Marie (Pearson) Putnam, 1960
Paternal grandma, my favorite grandparent. Born 11/17/1898 in Surprise, Nebraska; died September,1981 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was a piano/organ teacher and on some weekends played professionally. She was widowed in 1953, never remarried and was by far the strongest female in my young life. Grandma loved making things - afghans, knitwear and Christmas ornaments were her specialties.

David Hodson, kiiti, have particularly liked this photo

You can tell she was a musician! I used to have a treble clef brooch, but mine was of cheap metal whereas your grandma's looks the real thing:-)

I doubt it was the real thing. She had a collection of brooches made by an Austrian-American company. It was "costume jewelry" but good quality. I have two of them, but, unfortunately not this one! I wonder what happened to it.
