Three trucks, probably an International in front

Three trucks, probably an International in front
I don't know where the U.S. Navy truck came from. Possibly from a small base in northern Oregon. It closed in 1962, so if this truck is newer than that, it's from somewhere else.

I often wonder at the stories of things like these

I think the story is this: they broke down and it wasn't worth fixing such old ones, so the County bought new ones (this is a County storage yard). The odd thing is the yellow one, marked U.S. Navy. There is no Navy base anywhere in S. Oregon! I'm not sure there is one anywhere in the whole state.

It's a late 50's or early 60's International Harvester. The Navy has a history of air fields in inland areas for use by Navy pilots who were training for coastal combat and bombing (Navy planes are/were used in the Middle East wars). Klamath airport was once labeled Naval Air Station Klamath Falls but that designation ended in the 40's. There is, though, continued association of the airport with Oregon Air National Guard and thus equipment that was associated with the airport might be labeled as Navy. I looked to see if the truck might have come from northern California, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks for the great info, Don! I didn't associate this with Kingsley Field, since it isn't Navy. And, I didn't know that it used to be Navy! It's the only F-15 training base in the west, or so I hear, so there are plenty of those overhead every day.
