Smugglers cave

Smugglers cave
We are on the tiny Chapel-Porth beach in Cornwall. There are a few sea caves along the bottom of the cliffs only accessible at low tide by foot. This is commonly known as Smugglers Cave but I find no real evidence to support that, however I have read that a large cave was used here at the beginning of World War 1 to hide two heavy horses, to prevent them being requisitioned by the army. - Albert was the prized lead horse of a team that hauled machinery to and from Cornish mines, while Captain was a farm horse.

Enjoy full screen.

Beautifully composed and exposed Herb.............and amazing when viewed large. The view from the cave is gorgeous.

It was probably a good idea to hide the horses...........of those that were requisitioned and sent off to war very few returned :-(

Another to tickle your fancy Keith. Always good to supply a story too. I like this in full screen - there was a bit more room behind me but not much.

Always sad to hear about war-horses. Hope that this cave really did save some from all that.

Cheers, Herb
