Dove Stones in heat and drought

Dove Stones in heat and drought
As fires still smoulder on the high moor behind me here, everything looks almost normal here, except that I cannot recall the water level ever being as low as this, especially at this time of year. A little further and I see tree-stumps that have been under water since the building of this dam in 68.
See PiP

Parfois c'est dessolant de remarquer des changements négatifs,
qui nuisent a la nature, surtout si c'est fait par la main de l'homme.
Bonne fin de semaine.

Thank you Malek. Even though this looks a little desolate now it is usually a place of great beauty, see PiP.

Looks grim at the moment Herb

Herb Riddle club has replied to Nick Weall club
I might not exactly call this grim as this reservoir is not used for our drinking water but to keep our river levels up. However, I get your point and like most of us in the UK now wish for our normal wet weather back.

Thanks a lot John. I did not consider the points that you make too much as I was taking this as I was simply trying to convey how things are here. However I much appreciate your comment.
Take care, Herb

I suspect quite a few of our reservoirs are going to end up looking like this before summer is out Herb...............but a bit of rain and they usually recover quite quickly.

A nicely composed image!

Hi Keith, I suspect taht you will be right - just wait till Saint Swithin's Day (July 15), we will get 40 days and nights of torrential - see if I am right. As you say, most of our res's must be the same. I was in the Lake District over the last few days and the lakes there were all quite full although I had never before spent four days with clear skies, heat and sun there before.

Thank you Nora. Yes the comparisons between my pictures are startling. I am sure things will soon be OK again before next Spring.

100% Australia but for the colour of the soil and vegetation my bet is there would be no water in the corner if it was here.

I am sure you are right Steve. This was full to the brim a couple of months back. Sure to get much lower before it starts to fill again, probably in our Autumn.

Wonderful illustration of the change over the past couple of months, food prices will be rising without some decent rain fall, nothing is growing on the allotment
5 years ago.
Herb Riddle club has replied to Peter Castell club
Aye Peter, I can see that happening soon as our fields are tinder dry. Our garden plants have started to whither as our old washing-up water is insufficient to keep them all going. Our garden water-butts dried out a week or so back. Feel sorry for you with an allotment -all that hard work, for nothing! Ah well, there is always our photography to keep us going.

Always nice to see you Rosa. This spot is always quite photographic, no matter what the season or condition as my two photos here prove. In that way I know that I am very lucky to have such things nearby.

The composition is excellent but to see how little water there is is really worrying.
