This is a really beautiful shot Amelia, with that gorgeous poppy as the star of the show! It stands out perfectly in the sea of green and the detail in the flower is spot on. lovely light too!

Simple yet delightful. A few years ago, where I now live, the fields would have been bursting with poppies. But the farm changed hands and the new farmer is, understably, wanting to make some profit from his land and a poppy field means a spoiled grain field. So sadly one year they were all gone!

The seeds can lie dormant for years. Don't give up Andy.

I recently posted an old pic of a local poppy field. At this time of year they should be visible from our house all around. I'm going to go for a walk specifically to see if any vestige remains but I don't hold out high hopes. The herbicides are strong (and how they don't harm the grain crop I don't know. Suspicious I think!)
