South Stack Lighthouse.

South Stack Lighthouse.
South Stack Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1809, marking a tiny islet off Anglesey at the north west tip of Wales. It is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs. I would have liked to climb all the way down and onto the small island, but after about 300 steps down I began to get worried about climbing back up again as I am not fully fit yet, so we spent some time looking at the birds then slowly made our way back to the top.

Next time we visit I'll go all the way down.

Sicherlich die richtige Entscheidung, Amelia, auch die Option für den "Abstieg" offen zu halten!

A couple of great captures my friend. South Stack is one of my (if not the) favourite lighthouses. Yes, it is a long slog from the bottom. I once went inside too and took photos of the steep lighthouse internal steps to the light itself. Millions of tourist here on my last visit a year or so back now and plagued with Drones too. Sure are a lot of sea-birds around here.
Cheers, Herb.
My similar effort from 2015;

ps glad to see that we share a favourite author in Ian Rankin.

You did well to have gone so far, 100 steps would already have left me huffing and puffing;-)
You got to see the guillemots up close!

A cracking shot of this iconic lighthouse Amelia...............and I take my hat off to you for making the trek nearly all the way down. I'm not sure I could have managed 300 steps (each way)! I think you'll agree that getting this image was well worth the effort though :-)

I really like your image in the PiP - lots and lots of Guillemots..!! I hope to see a similar sight when I visit Skokholm Island in July this year.

It looks formidable and forbidding. I can imagine the climb was back up being quite a challenge.
