Definitely tax deducktible, Andy. The monies were used to buy more herbs to cure various mallardies.

The first monks were Catholic and couldn't eat meat on a Friday. The abbeys had fish ponds and stocked them with carp for the table. I presume this was the original fish pond that supplied fresh fish to the monks before the Abbey was dissolved. The carp were not native to England and were brought in from the continent. There is an old rhyme that goes hops and barley, carps and beer were brought into England all in a year.
