When I was sixteen I hitchhiked round England with a friend and we spent a wonderful day in the Cheddar Gorge. Thanks for bringing back memories.

I was no allowed to hitch-hike, Jean, but did occasionally rebel, but not on such a grand scale as you did. It's a lovely area, and luckily there were not too many crowds.

Could be very expensive living there, Marie-claire. ;-)

You certainly got around on your short stay in these parts Amelia! I haven't been to Cheddar for a while, and don't remember this shop!

When you come to Shropshire for a break, you do far more in 3 days than I do, Rosa. We were tourists - determined to see everything. We didn't go into the caves though. Far too commercialized these days.

I don't remember this either. I came here with a rock climbing mate/fanatic who was determined that I should accompany him up a climb in Cheddar Gorge. I was terrified! I reckoned that this would be quite a long way out of my comfort zone! I said a few prayers on the way to the gorge!
Thank God it poured with rain all day and the climb was abandoned!
I now firmly believe the old saw 'from your lips to God's ears!'

Now then, Andy, you really did chicken out didn't you? We watched a climber being put through his paces by such an enthusiast. It did look a bit scary I have to admit, but he did get to the top 'hook', then abseiled quickly down.

This was a craft shop last time I saw it !!!

I think it's still a bit of a craft shop, Pam, but the presence of Santa Claus is to lure tourists inside. It didn't work for me. ;-)

;) I guess it´s much more relaxing to go there from January to Oktober...and I would surely buy something for my christmas tree ;)))

It probably isn't, Tanja - too full of gullible tourists. We have a Christmas shop in our nearest town. I have never bought anything there either.

An interesting shop, Amelia, I'm sure they do well! I have only been here once, in 1975. Nice photo... John.

It's a glorious place, John. We walked up through the gorgee and back down again, but my photos are not very successful.

It's such a pretty house! I just wonder why they don't put up seasonal decorations, they seem to be selling not only Christmas stuff;-)

I totally agree, Gudrun. Santa should be packed off to Lapland until December, as should the swags wreathes etc. More tubs and hanging baskets full of summer flowers would be much nicer. ;-)

Thank you, Jaap. Is Explore working a bit better now? I rarely look.

Why shouldn't it be Christmas indeed! But do they sell cheese?

Amelia club has replied to tiabunna club
Don't be silly, George. The cheese shop is down the road. Besides, Cheddar cheese can be made and bought anywhere, and at far better prices too. ;-),
