Superb architecture image Amelia. The two figures on the sloping walkway show the scale of the building.

Thank you, Graham. It's a magnificent piece of architecture resembling a huge iceberg or a grand ski slope.

Great blue and white photo with excellent PoV! The news sounds good, once the signatures are on paper I really start to believe it! The hard work comes after that.

As I said on the blog, 'There's many a slip twixt cup and lip', Gudrun. But William sounds confident. As you say, the hard work is just about to strat.

The notice reads that bicycles and skateboards are not permitted. Thank goodness for that. Until the ink has dried on the signatures, I'll remain slightly wary though.

Interesting building, the Caption describes well my feelings regarding the News, yes, let's sweep the small time users out, I don't mean the free riders, those we do not need, we do need the social loggers etc, but no, they have been priced out.

The trouble is that many people haven't trusted Ipoernity for at least 4 months, John, and have left to find pastures new. It may take some time to build up paying numbers again. i don't think a membership fee of $1 or 1 Euro per week is unreasonable in fact. After all, the site gives such a lot of pleasure to so many people. The social interaction on F,,,r and 500 pix etc, is next to useless.

Well said Amelia ... I know the whole issue of affordability has been somewhat of a 'hot potato', but really you can't argue that's it's not value for money! :)

I don't think IMA want to "price out" anybody but they need to generate enough money to keep the platform running without loss. To program accounts with restricted features apart from the model existing now as free account (and who will be willing to pay even reduced rates for that?) IMA will need even more money, programmers don't come cheap. I am sure they will try to find a way for those who really can't afford 50 Euros.

Btw also keep in mind that the number of people who donated to the crowdfunding campaign is much lower than it seems, because many donated several times over. If we need more crowdfunding which may well be the case I'm not sure all of them will be willing to donate double or triple again.

Well Amelia that may be so but I refer to the many long time users that joined Ipernity for its social safety and friendliness, not as an escape from Flickr etc. Many followed me here in 2011, friends I had been sharing all kinds of media with since 1995, many only write short stories, Receipes, and Holiday experiences in Article (Blog) form seldom using photos, a lot of them like myself are living on limited Pensions, thet willingly paid 25€ as Club members, they are now Priced out meaning a loss of friendly intercourse that they value.

I am aware Gudrun that money to work with is essential, however if the less wealthy were oermitted to be shall we say Bloggers for 25€ and the Photo folk at 50€ there would be potential for a larger income thereby creating room for Programmer(s) to be hired.

As for the Donations, yes I know, I myself increased my pledged sum even though it was fincially difficult as a low fixed pensionist. I had already paid Ipernity for myself and my son for two further years to ultimo October 2018.

I for one donated 4 times, but 1 of those donations was from a member who wasn't able to donate because of credit card difficulties. He will be paying me back soon. Nevertheless, I do want the platform of Ipernity to survive and flourish, so if extra funding is required that won't be a problem. I'll give up our 1 bottle of wine per week. ;-)

Same here- 3x for myself (anonymus) and once for another user. And yes, I will donate again when the next crowdfunding campaign comes.

Ditto to the above. I also wanted to see if I could help someone who found it difficult but didn't know how to ask! 'Excuse me, do you want to support the rescue effort but are a bit hard-pressed at present?' didn't seem to cut the mustard somehow - but I'm pleased that those who could help, did!
Very impressive architecture and shot, by the way!
In anticipation of the first subscription request I am cutting back on the Bolly!

I too am a pensioner, living on a basic state pension supplemented by a small teacher's pension. My career was interrupted by 3 wonderful children, but at that time the maternity leave was only 6 weeks, making career breaks necessary. Gardening and photography are now my main hobbies, and ipernity gives me a great deal of pleasure. Long may it last. I know we will all be required to pay up again very soon, and I sincerely hope that the site will remain viable. I do hope you will be able to stay with us, John.
