Great shot of the expanse of the West Sands. They could just about have filmed Lawrence of Arabia here when the tide is out:)

It's a wonderful beach, Doug, and it's where I learned to swim - nearer the town end of course.

John Rebus' homeland! Beautiful

John Rebus is an Edinburgh man, Karl, but his creator, Ian Rankin, comes from Fife - as i do. I love the wave patterns that occur on a shallow shelving beach.

The music is inspirational, Dany, but I think the film is a bit fanciful. ;-)

When the tide is out there is a huge amount of sand here, Keith. It's a very safe beach for children as there are no sudden nasty shelves. I learned to swim here. ;-)

It's such a vast beach, I love the structures in the sand! On our visit there we were told about Chariots of fire:-)

The film is uplifting Gudrun, but rather fanciful in places. The runners eventually jump over the fence onto the first and eighteenth holes of the Old Course, in front of the the Roayl and Ancient Golf Club where my mother did part time work in the bust season. That fence may appear on Friday. ;-)
