Last night there was a bit of a kerfuffle in my lounge .....

I realised that Pippin had brought in a tiny sparrow into the lounge and it was making a squawking fit to burst. I managed to get it off him and it was fine. Then I had to decide what to do. It was very small and it was scared. I cuddled it in my hands for a while until it calmed down and wondered if it was hurt. It wasn't.

So I found an almost empty tissue box and put it in there so it could be safe. Pippin was sort of hovering but he did stay away, maybe my demeanour put him off from seeing if he could play with his new toy.

I was talking to Mickey on the phone and he suggested I gave it a bit of cat food (?) bit of a change feeding cat food to something that a cat would see as food!!!! It squawked but I think some went down. Then I had the worry of where to put it for the night - aha - the downstairs wc would be safe from Pippin. So that's where it was put.

I wondered if it would still be alive when I got up this morning and look......

the tissue box was damp, I'd put it in the sink and maybe the tap was sort of leaking, anyway the little bird was fine.

So I went outside and lifted up a few pots or so and found a nice juicy worm for him. Meanwhile I looked around for another box to put it in and I know it seems wrong but the only one available is this...............

So it is still alive - been fed a big juicy worm and now I don't know what to do. It's too small to be left out alone, and so I'm going to have to look after it until it's old enough to make it on it's own. Any suggestions what to do - what to feed it and do I give it water too - if so - how much?

It's safe for now which is the main thing. Very sweet too.
