Richard from next door popped over this afternoon and brought his hedge trimmer with him and proceeded to attack the hedges and the branches which had overgrown tremendously over the past few weeks. I think it was just an excuse to see my new lawn mower which came the other day!!!!

My older lawn mower gave up the ghost last week, I'd had it over 12 years and it had been second hand when I got it from a thrift shop for the grand sum of £10!!!! So it had served me very well, so I had to order a new one and I needed one with wheels rather than a hover, and so I got this a couple of days ago.

I'm so glad that he had come round, because it had arrived all in separate pieces and I would have had a tremendous trouble putting it together. Richard is strong and fit but even he struggled to get that satisfying "click" when it fitted in!!

At last it was completed and he went into the garden to do some cutting. He trimmed down the hedge and had a go at the bushes - it was fantastic. The weather we've had this year has been perfect for growing, warm and wet.

I haven't been feeling 100% lately and doing any gardening has been put on the back burner I'm afraid. So to have a neighbour come over and do something like this is amazing.

See he's working hard there....

He's a fantastic neighbour doing this for me.....

Then once he'd raked away all the detritus he got out the mower to give it a maiden cut. He said it was extremely light and so easy to use - so that gives me hope that I'll be able to do it myself when I feel better.

Look at my lawn now - it only took him about 10 minutes to cut the grass which is great...

So what was going to be a quiet afternoon was just the opposite, but with no complaints from me.

Am I a lucky duck or what?
