Three Cornered Leek
Three-cornered leek (Allium triquetrium) goes by many local names, but only one latin one. All the local names refer to its garlicky smell; onion grass, onion weed, wild garlic, three-cornered garlic, three-cornered onion or three-cornered leek. A member of the allium family it originates from the Mediterranean, Madeira, Canary Islands and North Africa. It was introduced to the UK in the 18th century. It has a three-cornered stem. A subtle triangle shape is visible when you horizontally cut a leaf and a clear triangular shape is visible on a cut flower stem.

And I didn't know they were also related to asparagus, I just found out. Well, it's the season plus it's lunchtime...so I'm going to prepare some asparagus now :-))
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Edna Edenkoben clubEnjoy your asparagus. I had white asparagus when on holiday in the Netherlands. It seems to be a favourite there....and very nice too :-))
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubRosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Pat Del clubThey look a bit like white bluebells but the smell gives them away:-)
I remember them from the Channel Island where they would grow with bluebells and red campion but I haven't seen allium triquetum around here in SW Germany.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Gudrun cluband red campion :-) I haven't noticed very much of it around here, but then when I was visiting my brother yesterday, he had some in his garden! It does spread rather easily though.
Bel après midi mon amie.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jocelyne Villoing clubGood afternoon my friend.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Ulrich John clubI couldn't resist looking this one up and I discovered that in the UK it is considered an invasive species to the extent it is an offence to plant or otherwise cause to grow this species in the wild. You should probably be glad it's not in your garden!
