If I weren't close to my retirement age, I wouldn't mind studying in such a lovely and noble place :-)

Whenever I have met students there, they have been very happy and polite. Sophie would love to train as an equestrian vet there, but she has a few years to think about it yet.
It is a lovely place to walk around Edna, and I know you would enjoy it.

Such a beautiful building...........and great that the grounds etc are free for people to walk round. Long may it stay that way. I am lucky enough to be able to afford National Trust membership, but not everyone can!

I like the colour of the stonework.................I'm used to seeing the honey-coloured stones in your photos, so this makes a great change,. I wonder what it was used for before the college, it looks very grand.

Superbly composed and taken Rosa..............and a lovely photo of Sophie in the PiP.

They also have a cafe, I might add Keith ;-) I have been a NT member for years, but when my membership runs out in October, I am going to join English Heritage instead. It will make a change, and there are quite a few in easy driving distance.

The present house is Portland limestone but it replaced a much earlier manor house. The present mansion was built by George Pitt around 1700. It has been a college since 1949.

At the moment, I don't think we're getting our money's worth from the NT membership, so we'll be reviewing it as well.

Did you know that if you buy the Gardener's World magazine (I think it's the May issue), you get a card giving you 2 for 1 entrance to gardens all over the country? We do it every year!

That's what I feel about the NT Keith. I didn't know that about the Gardener's World offer, but I'll have a look when I go shopping. The membership of The Newt entitles free entry to 'partner gardens' but they are a bit too far away, for example Blenheim, Chatsworth and the Eden Project to name a few.
