This street is hidden behind the town hall in Shaftesbury Stephan.

Most people only know it from the bread advert and the Two Ronnies sketch Peter.
We had thunder and lightening directly above the house yesterday! So far today, the sun is trying to break through. Have a good day.

You caught this iconic street in very beautiful light! The bench looks very welcome both ways. The state my knees are in at the moment I'd rather walk uphill;-)

Thank you very much Gudrun. Sorry to hear about your knees. I actually find it easier to walk up rather than down the hill, but we came back to the town a different way....just as steep but a gentler walk.

Going uphill is definitely easier! I've been known to walk the worst bits backwards when going down very steep paths;-)

Lovely photos. Looks familiar, but I've never been to Shaftesbury. Is Gold Hill the location where the Hovis bread advert with the boy on the bicycle was filmed?

Thank you very much. Yes it was the location for the Hovis advert. It was also used in "Far from the Madding Crowd" in 1967, I watched some of the filming. It was brilliant.

The main image is stunning Rosa..............gorgeous evening light, lovely warm colours in the architecture and lots of lovely detail. I love it!

The little bookshop looks very nice and inviting........I could probably spend some serious time (& money) in somewhere like that.

A very attractive red bench too............I like all the lush greenery surrounding it..........a perfect place for a much needed rest!

Such a wonderful little series - all perfectly captured.

I've put quite a few pictures of Gold Hill on here Keith, but It looks so different to me, depending on the light. I am really pleased that you like this one :-)

The bookshop does very well and the young owners are very nice. I keep saying I must take some books to the charity shop before buying more, but it's difficult! The bench is useful, but I don't know who Tony is. I'll have to find out!

I imagine myself climbing this hill, enjoying these traditional houses, sitting on this welcoming bench and breathing in the ancient perfume of these old stones in the twilight - or maybe permanent - mist ;) An authentic evocation and so well rendered, Rosa. The smells of this village come to our eyes and noses!
