A really fine series of this wonderful and impressive set of locks Rosa. The perspective in all images is excellent, giving a good impression of the distance and rise covered by the locks. I love the framing and reflections in the second picture.

Thank you very much for your kind comments Doug. I lived near Devizes for 6 years in the 1970's and remember a lot of volunteers working on this stretch of the canal, and what a wonderful job they did, with the canals being so popular nowadays.

All the best, Rosa.

I love the angle from which you have photographed the locks, Rosa. The repetitive shapes receding into the distance make this a great composition. Cheers, Joe

Thank you very much Joe. I had to walk down the hill to get these shots, and it was quite hard work walking back up in the very close and muggy weather. Your comments make it worth the effort though! Cheers, Rosa.

Terrific series of shots Rosalyn, Curiosity made me look this up in Wikki and found what I was looking for, that it takes upto six hours to journey through the series of locks to reach the top.
A good weekend for you. Stay safe.

Thank you Maurice. Yes 5-6 hours! When 6 of us hired a longboat from Bradford-on-Avon a few years ago, we went in the opposite direction to Caen Hill Locks ;-))
Take care and have a nice weekend.

That's an impressive view of those locks Rosa and a very well composed image. I love the detail in the clouds and the vibrant green colours of the landscape.

I can see the man in the boat is looking downcast...........he's probably wondering what he's let himself in for..!!

Two more cracking shots in the PiPs. Both very well composed. I like the reflections in the first PiP. The second PiP is actually my favourite of the set - the perspective is perfect and the shot is anchored nicely by the people sitting on the towpath.

Top notch photography! I hope you're enjoying the weekend. We're staying at home as it's been raining here all day, but the garden needs it and we try to avoid going out at the weekend anyway, as it's usually busy!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
Thank you Keith, much appreciated. Yes I think you may be right about the man in the boat!!

You can see in the first PiP a tunnel going under the road where there is a very quiet path along the canal...when the longboats come through the tunnel and see the stack of locks, I can imagine their first few words ;-)

A good weekend to stay at home with the frequent showers Keith. I expect, like me, you can find plenty to do!

Hi Rosa

This is a fantastic shot of the series of locks.

Wonderful composition lining them up like that.

Tardebigge ( www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/49278544 ) claims 30 locks, but they are spread out over quite some distance.

I suppose, if you hired a boat for a day, the last thing you would want t do is spend it going up this lot!!!

Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

I'm glad to see this impressive series of images of all the locks, after reading about them in your notes on the previous image, Rosa. That said, it must be a daunting prospect to be facing this climb in a narrowboat!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to tiabunna club
Lovely comments George, thank you very much.
If you are hiring a narrowboat just for the day...don't go near Caen Hill locks ;-))
