Tytherington Church of St James.
Just a few miles from Sutton Veny is Tytherington, where this old church stands. Possibly the oldest church in Wiltshire, this simple building dates to at least the early 12th century. The church was founded by Empress Matilda (Queen Maud), mother of Henry II, who had a residence at nearby Heytesbury.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton clubMany thanks for your kind comments, and pleased you have had such a lovely week with your family. My youngest and family are on holiday in Devon and having a great time. They had to cancel their trip to Ibiza, but the weather is similar :)
Keith Burton club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubA very nice picture, of this very old church. Great information too, which I read with interest.
Very tactfully, it didn't mention the name of the person who ordered it to be stripped /robbed of anything of value, the proceeds going into the king's treasury.
such a shame!
Best Wishes,
Peter
