Mudeford Sandspit

Mudeford Sandspit
Pronounced Mud-ee-ferd. Trailing off the Eastern end of Hengistbury Head and forming the Eastern boundary of Christchurch Harbour is the ancient sandspit known today as Mudeford Sandspit. Today this sandspit hosts a collection of famously expensive beach-huts along with a fine beach and a diminished dune structure that once used to occupy most of this place.

A well composed shot, Rosa. The yacht is perfectly placed between the two poles, and the figures are distanced perfectly from each other to make the composition really wonderful. I love the colour contrast between the spit and the water. Cheers, Joe

Wow! The light and colours in this shot are wonderful!

Beautifully composed Rosa........I like the semi-silhouetted figures and the red markers on the poles. I also like the hazy background and the tiny sail boat.

Top-notch photography :-)

Thank you very much Keith. To be honest the conditions were not easy. It was very humid and this was taken just as the dazzling white mist was lifting.

Hope you have a good Friday eve ;-))

I recall coming here as a child but I don't recall any expensive beach huts back then. Maybe it's my memory at fault!

ME TOO ANDY !! I DO ALSO REMEMBER THE BEACH HUTS OF THE TIME.

Andy you would not believe what they go for now! I'm talking hundreds of thousands!

It's come back to me now!
But the area around Mudeford and the beach didn't seem at all 'moneyed'.
But then we stayed one summer in a chalet right in the middle of Sandbanks in 1969 and that seemed very non-posh and non-exclusive. It was cheap too!
How times have changed!

I think every old house in Sandbanks has been demolished for multimillion homes with huge glass fronts to replace them. I have to say, I prefer country cottages.

A wonderful coastal image Rosalyn, many of these places have become the preserve of the rich, these is constantly rearranging our coastline

Thank you Peter. There has been another rock fall in West Bay recently. I would never walk under the cliffs there!!

Naturaleza.

In your photo it still looks idyllic, no sight of expensive beach huts:-) The silhouettes of the signs and visitors add interest to the composition.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Gudrun club
Thank you Gudrun. The expensive beach huts are no more than the usual wooden huts, but the location makes them out of the reach of most people. One recently sold for £300,000, which I think is ridiculous. Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't pay it :-)

So you stood on Mudeford Quay? And the background hills are the IoW, I suppose?
It is a most beautiful picture of this final point of Hengistbury Head - and Mudeford Spit has its very unique atmosphere ... -> www.ipernity.com/doc/2251804/45231896/in/album/982994
But £300,000 is as crazy (and immoral) as 1000€ for one Salzburger Festspiele ticket.

We took my 90 year old uncle there for the day Leon. Yes it is the IoW in the background. I remember your lovely pictures from the area. It is absolutely a crazy price for the beach huts! I think event ticket prices will only get more expensive after the disaster of 2020 :-(
I hope you have a good weekend and thank you for your kind comments.

Thank you very much Doug. Yes, even if I could afford one of the beach huts, I wouldn't buy one at that price.

All the best, Rosa.
