It was such a lovely day yesterday, so I decided to visit the mill (again). It was the first time I had been there when milling was taking place, so had the opportunity to investigate the whole inside. One of many mills that once operated along the River Stour

What a lovely situation it is in. You've captured it beautifully. The interior reminds me of a visit to Preston Mill in East Lothian. Fascinating to see them in action.

I find mills very interesting Jean. It's a link with the past and you can feel the age of it, especially inside. Have you got pictures in your gallery of Preston Mill?

:o))))) It's OK, it's all going famously. My problems are not with the days or months or even the years, it's with the decades!!
It's a good job we don't write cheques any more. My worst year was 1998 - I ALWAYS wrote 1989 on the cheque and even when my mistake was pointed out I couldn't see it! ... 'Come on stop pulling my leg, it IS 1989' etc.

It was so good to be able to look over the whole building inside Peter. There were a few people about but the Sturminster Cheese Show was taking place nearby. Lode Mill looks lovely!! I have bought their flour in the past but I mostly cook with gluten free flour now. Have a good day :)

Thank you Amelia. Apart from the sale of their flour in many shops in the area and a small charge to look all over the interior and watch the milling, I don't know how else they pay for the upkeep. I expect they have a lot of volunteers. It is always free to walk around the outside and there are some good public footpaths to other mills along the River Stour.
