Cette semaine, on rappelle l'anniversaire de la catastrophe de Tchernobyl. Quel est le lien entre cette photo et cet anniversaire? Voici l'histoire. Cette photo montre un ornithologue nommé Ronald, à droite avec le chapeau blanc. En août 2009, il se rendait au Fort Chambly, au sud de Montréal pour observer le balbuzard pêcheur et le montrer aux visiteurs de ce site historique. Ce qu'on voit sur la photo. Ce jour-là, il fait la rencontre d'une jeune femme accompagnée d'un garçon d'environ huit ans. Elle lui explique que l'enfant habite la région de Tchernobyl. Chaque été, des familles québécoises accueillent des enfants de cette région pour quelques semaines afin de leur permettre de vivre dans un environnement sain. Quand elle dit à Ronald que l'enfant doit retourner bientôt en Ukraine, celui-ci prend l'argent qu'il avait sur lui, environ 30 dollars, et le donne à l'enfant en lui disant de s'acheter des souvenirs du Québec. Je n'ai jamais revu Ronald depuis ce jour. J'ignore ce que sont devenus cet enfant et cet homme généreux mais je me souviendrai toujours de cette histoire. This week, we remember the Tchernobyl nuclear accident. What is the link between this picture and that anniversary. here is the story. On the picture, you see Ronald, at right with the white hat. He is a birdwatcher and he came to Fort Chambly, South of Montréal, to Watch the osprey and to show the bird to visitors of this historic site. That day, in august 2009, he met a Young woman and a little boy about 8 years old. The boy was from the Tchernobyl area. In Quebec, each summer, canadian families receive children from Tchernobyl for a few weeks, so they can live in a clean area for some time. When the woman told Ronald that the boy was leaving Canada soon, he took all the money in his pockets, about 30 dollars, and gave it to the boy, telling him to buy souvenirs from Quebec to take home with him. I never saw Ronald again since that day. I don't know what happened to him and the little boy but I will always remember that story.
