Sea Defence
Another section of this large mural on the sea wall in Mural Yard, Watchet, on the Somerset Coast!
The whole painted wall is 45 meters long and was painted in 2016 by Pat Denis
The idea was to present items from the towns rich sea faring history
Other segments previously posted Here,

And Here! Off the Wall
Sadly on a recent visit, it was clear the the sun has taken its toll and the mural has faded badly, soon only photographs will remain!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo clubI like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting composition, especially the guy with the big beard!
Fantastic colours too, even though you say they faded.
But I do wonder, did the Vikings ever find their way down to Watchet? I thought they only arrived in the north and east, hence the long life of the Cornish and Welsh language...
Best Wishes, HWW, and stay safe!!
Peter
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Peter_Private_Box clubI offer you this extract from Wikipedia regarding Carhampton which is a very short distance from Watchet and one of the likely landing places!
The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle for the year 840 says that Æthelwulf of Wessex was defeated at Carhampton, Somerset, after 35 Viking ships had landed in the area.

It helps that you've captured it in great light and superb detail of course!
I think that most artists who paint outside are aware that their efforts are, in the end, just transient and accept that.
A superb shot sir..!!
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Keith Burton clubI do agree but is such a huge piece of work and so well painted that it is sad to watch it fade away!
